Electric asphalt set enables emission-free asphalting
The road construction industry is in a state of flux. Motrac Industries, with the support of Intercel, has developed an all-electric asphalt set that marks an important step toward emission-free road construction. This project marks a clear milestone for the sector, where sustainability and innovation go hand in hand.
Sustainable and powerful alternative to diesel
Asphalt paving traditionally involves a lot of heavy equipment, such as asphalt rollers, spreaders and sand track rollers. These machines run intensively, leading to significant CO₂ emissions and noise production. By joining forces with Motrac Industries, we have developed a solution that is both practical and sustainable.
Motrac Industries conducted a comprehensive feasibility study of the power flows within this type of machine and designed a custom electric power train. We supplied the universal battery system: a modular system that is easily interchangeable and deployable in multiple machines. Thanks to this design, future electrically driven road construction machines can easily be equipped with the same battery solution. This ensures maximum flexibility and increased efficiency in use.
Electrification: the future of mobility and production
The switch to electric propulsion is playing an increasing role not only in road construction, but also in other sectors. Think automotive, agricultural, marine and industrial applications. Motrac Industries is working on several innovative projects, such as electric implement carriers, feed mixers and grid systems. Our collaboration enables them to provide their concepts with powerful and reliable battery solutions.
According to Derk Hoogveldt, System Engineer E-Drive at Motrac Industries, the collaboration was a logical step:
“The first contact was immediately good. Especially with custom battery packs, intensive cooperation is crucial. Combining each other’s knowledge and experience makes our total solution better. With the goal being the most efficient electric powertrain possible.”

We also see this cooperation as a promising step toward the future: “Electrification of heavy equipment requires flexible and powerful energy solutions. Our battery technologies provide the stability and power needed to run these machines efficiently. This project with Motrac Industries shows how together we are shaping the future of sustainable infrastructure,” said Robin Been, Team Lead Sales Electrification at Intercel.
From idea to implementation: start with a feasibility study
For many companies, electrification is now a serious alternative to traditional drives. Technological developments follow each other in rapid succession. What is considered experimental today may be the standard tomorrow. Motrac Industries therefore advises companies to always start with a thorough feasibility study. This forms the basis for an informed decision about the electrification of machines or complete systems.
